Intuitive perception  is simply the spiritual counterpart of the intuition function within our Personality. From Jungian psychology, each of us has four functions within the Personality including thinking, feeling, sensing and intuiting. One of these functions dominates the normal operation of our personality life. This personality intuiting is what C. G. Jung describes as a "kind of instinctive apprehension." It "mediates perceptions in an unconscious way."

Spiritual intuitive perception becomes a conscious active faculty (sense) which mediates perceptions in the spiritual Planes and Realms. The Eastern mystic Sri Aurobindo identifies it as a higher-level form of thinking which takes place from the "intuitive mind." As thinking is an active projective process, intuitive perception is an active receptive process similar to our personality feeling nature.

Our fifth intuitive sense is that of wisdom or "active service." This faculty of wisdom "transforms one's basic attitudes to life and death." It is a "deep, lived understanding" that human existence means very little "apart from the great Being, or Divine." This wisdom "liberates one from the burden of ego consciousness" as puts us in touch with the "essential identity that transcends the body and the mind" (i.e. the Self).

Theologically, this faculty is the Holy Spirit’s gift of wisdom. It is "a sort of critical illumination" or "luminous intuitive judgment." I consider it to be our transformative power (faculty) of intuitive understanding. It is living both spiritually and materially based on a deep understanding of our spiritual Self, which then liberates us from our Ego while transforming our remaining ignorance.

Our Spiritual Intuition

by Jef Bartow

As discussed in the initial article on our Spirit/Matter universe, the Planes are organized like the keys on a piano. Therefore, there is no black key or inner Plane between the outer Mental and Intuitional Planes. This unique structure provides a paradox. With the mental and intuitional Planes seemingly un-separated, naturally one would think that transition between the two would be easy.

The paradox is that the lower mental, emotional and physical Planes comprise materiality while the higher intuitional, spiritual, monadic and Spirit Panes comprise spirituality. The transition between the Mental Plane and the Intuitional Plane requires a reversal. This reversal can be fluid or represent a major barrier to moving up through the Panes in consciousness. Entering the Intuitional energies requires leaving the limits of our Personality as represented by Saturn. Upon entering spiritual energies, we therefore first encounter the intuition as represented by Uranus.

Experiencing our spiritual intuition is moving from the duality of our mentality to a first unity in spiritual energies. Of course, part of our spiritual growth is to develop our spiritual intuition until it dominates the multiplicity of our minds. Let's see how our intuitional senses and energies make this possible.

Intuiting Senses

As discussed, we develop senses extending from each Energy Node within our energetic Tree of Life. Therefore, we have five intuiting senses which help us to explore and experience intuitional energies. These five senses include telepathy, healing, inner vision, intuitive perception and wisdom.

Much has been written about what has been labeled mental telepathy. In actuality, we have an instinctual telepathy that is communicated through our psychic senses of the imagination including clairsentience/psychometry, clairaudience and clairvoyance. These psychic activities are strictly part of our Personality. Spiritual telepathy originates in the Intuitional Plane and allows us to communicate spiritually with other Beings and humans.

Before humanity began developing spiritual intuition, communication from inner Beings came through the subjective soul directly into our objective imagination. Humans, utilizing clairaudience would hear the communication from these inner Beings. Of course we can still utilize this capability. A more direct spiritual form of communication comes in developing intuitional telepathy. This communication and interaction can come in the form of inner voices or energetic overshadowing. When intuitional telepathy is working, we can also have thoughts communicated directly into our higher mind.

Somewhat controversial in many societies is the ability to heal. The physical ability from those true healers comes through developing the power of spiritual healing originating in the Intuitional Plane. This power, faculty or sense becomes the ability to heal ourselves throughout the Personality. We all have the potential to develop this sense to varying degrees.

Our third intuitional sense we can develop within our intuitional nature is that of inner vision. This is a spiritual counterpart to clairvoyance. As described earlier, clairvoyance allows us to see within the Planes of our Personality. Inner vision becomes our ability to see in the spiritual Planes and inner Realms. What is limited within the Personality because unlimited within our spiritual nature. These two senses work similarly and therefore makes developing inner vision more difficult. Human nature tends to go with what is easy and comfortable, not what is challenging and outside of our comfort zone.

The fifth subplane embodies various states of meditation. D.T. Suzuki relates this to the “pure undefiled spiritual world of nondiscrimination.” It is the "principle of nondiscrimination lying underneath every form of distinction and discrimination." It is the world of "no-thinking" or beyond thinking, the state of "No-mind-ness." I conclude it is also represented in the "beautiful" properties of those equations and theories that best describe our universe within science and mathematics.

Central to the Intuitional Plane we have the dominion of synchronicity, the fundamental characteristic or energy of the entire Intuitional Plane. Just as we receive intuitive insights that seemingly come from nowhere, here's where we first began to develop a conscious sense of intuiting, the ability to receive, recognize and use insights from Spirit to take more meaningful and purposeful steps within life. Synchronicity is the principle/energy of "meaningful coincidences." It is psychologically how everything is connected, dispelling the illusion of random coincidences.
Intuitional Energies/Subplanes

The diagram below outlines the structure of the Intuitional Plane and our Tree of Life energy structure within it. I have included terms that our various fields of study, both Eastern and Western use to describe these spiritualized energies and existence. Fittingly, the lowest subplane is that of perspective. I relate this energy to a spiritual form of crystals. The crystalline symmetry of physical crystals is reflected in spiritual perspective as a relationship or proportion of parts to a whole, a specific point of view that shows parts in their true relation to one another.

This energy is how we gain understanding of our outer materialized life. I experience this energy in the brilliance of the sunset just as the sun is descending below the horizon. It always tends to put my life and personality in perspective.

Beyond perspective, we encounter the fluid symmetries of the Intuitional Plane. I first experienced this fluid symmetry while sitting by a pool. Looking at the bottom of the pool, I could see a constantly moving pattern of geometric figures. Without being in the water, I could feel the fluidity of light and motion, just like when swimming underwater. The fluid symmetries of intuitions always seem to be a distance. Intuitions are many times so subtle they are often discarded as just thoughts.

Moving to the higher subplanes of the Intuitional Plane brings us to energies which can catapult us into ever higher Planes and energies. These energies are closer correspondences to us from the infinity of which Spirit ultimately extends. The first one is that of enlightenment or Nirvana. From various Eastern mystical sources I choose the terms illumined quiescence, our first unconditioned state infestation of connection to the material world. Experiencing this lowest-level of Nirvana connects us to realms that we can temporarily experience until we can complete our journey on the Spiritual Path to live in Spirit beyond life and death.

The second highest subplane of intuitional energies is what the Buddha described and expressed as compassion. Compassion is the objective loving support for that which exists in a state of suffering. This support is for the release of suffering, not the enduring of suffering. Objective in this case is a detached orientation while providing this loving support. For a time I equated this transpersonal compassion with the highest expression of Love. As powerful and pure as this love is, it is only a lower objective expression of the Love in Spirit.

At the most refined level of the Intuitional Plane we come to the energy of balance. Intellectually, it can be equated with "what goes around, comes around." It is another way of saying "as you sow, so shall you reap" or that Man lives to "balance his karma." From this highest level of the lowest spiritual Plane, all of life and material existence is balanced within the creative expression of Spirit (God). When we come to a point of balance within our nature and life, we become open to the expanse of Spirit and its potential spiritualizing influence within our total existence.
